Orlando Vigil – Charlie’s Speech

Last night, I attended the Sunshine Coast vigil for the victims of the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando, Florida.
I was particularly moved by a speech by a young woman called Charlie Maycraft.
Charlie has kindly given me permission to share her speech with you.

Great speech Charlie. And thanks for this post and the Orlando one Chrys. I am still struggling to know how to feel about the shooting but I wish gun laws could be tightened up in the US, and that everyone of whatever religion or sexuality or non-religion, could be kinder to everyone else, even those we can’t understand or like. We are all in this together and hating doesn’t help.

Hate can’t conquer hate, only love can do that. – Martin Luther King

I truly believe that hate will never win.
